What is CareerPoint Bootcamp?

The CareerPoint Bootcamp is a ten-week virtual group coaching experience, free to 100WF NextGen Cayman members. The target audience is 100WF Next Gen members (Professional women with less than 10 years experience in the finance industry).

  • Clarity on your short and medium term career goals
  • A roadmap for:
    · Achieving your ambitions
    · Reducing stress and conflict at work
    · Improving relationships with key stakeholders
  • Networking with ambitious and like-minded industry peers
  • Inspiration from 15 hrs of interactive learning, breakouts and group discussion

What is covered?

During the first session, participants will get to know each other and their coaches and learn about the Employee Value Curve, the philosophical touchstone for our coaching work and bootcamps.

Key questions answered:

  • What does career development mean to me?
  • What really drives my career development?
  • How can I accelerate my career development?

Participants will discuss and learn how the business environment creates or limits opportunities for career development.

Key questions answered:

  • What aspects of the business environment most affect my career development?
  • How should I adjust my strategy and expectation level for the business environment I’m in?
  • How can I influence the business environment to improve the likelihood and/or speed of my development?

Participants will discuss and learn how to calibrate their effort to match their ambitions, how to ensure they’re meeting or exceeding managers’ expectations and how to continually improve productivity.

Key questions answered:

  • How can I achieve both work life balance and career development?
  • How can I escape or avoid micro-management?
  • How can I become more productive at work? Which areas should I focus on?

Participants will discuss and learn how to create unlimited value and become indispensable at work by solving systemic problems for their teams and customers.

Key questions answered:

  • How does innovation compare to other sources of value at work?
  • How can I identify the right opportunities for innovation that adds value?
  • How can I best present my ideas to my team leader?

Participants will discuss and learn how relationships create shared value for people, teams and companies and how to continually enhance the relationships that matter most.

Key questions answered:

  • What are the five stages that every business relationship must go through?
  • How can I ensure I’m networking most effectively?
  • How can I avoid conflict and get dissonant relationships back on track?

Participants will discuss and learn how their skills, knowledge and abilities create shared value.

Key questions answered:

  • Which skills and qualifications are most important for me to develop right now?
  • How much time should I invest in technical and soft skills?
  • How do develop and win support for my own professional development plan?

Participants will discuss and learn how their impact on team morale creates shared value, why it iis one of the most important and often under-appreciated value drivers, and practical ways to dial it up.

Key questions answered:

  • Why is a positive impact on team morale so important for career development?
  • How can I assess my current impact on morale?
  • How can I continually improve my impact on team morale as I transition into higher leadership roles?

Participants will discuss and learn the ways in which leadership creates shared organisational value and the changing face of leadership as you progress through the ranks of the organisation.

Key questions answered:

  • What do other company stakeholders look for in a leader?
  • Do subordinates and bosses look for the same things?
  • How can I strike a balance when their expectations are not aligned?

Participants will discuss and learn how office politics makes or breaks our careers, how to best identify and engage with the key stakeholders to their development and the three-step plan for guaranteed career success.

Key questions answered:

  • How can I initiate and maintain regular career discussions with my boss or other stakeholders?
  • How can I make sure my name comes up when development decisions are made?
  • How can I negotiate a salary increase without over-stepping or appearing pushy?

Participants will discuss and review the key lessons from the BootCamp, the value drivers they most want to focus on, and the steps they must take in the coming months to achieve their goals.

About The Coaches

About Steve

Originally from the west coast of Scotland, Steve McIntosh is a recovering accountant (ICAEW), HR professional (GPHR) and MBA (University of Oxford). After starting his career with global accounting firm KPMG in 1998, Steve founded offshore financial services recruitment firm CML in 2004 which he led as CEO for 16 years.

In 2020, he founded CareerPoint.com, the virtual coaching platform that helps companies and their people get ahead of the curve. With customers and coaches in more than 30 countries around the world, CareerPoint is well on its way to achieving its two-fold mission to help a million young people advance in their careers and level the playing field for under-represented groups.

Steve is a “zealous convert” to the value of HR as a driver of business value and the author of “The Employee Value Curve: the unifying theory of HR and career advancement helping companies and their people succeed together. “

About Michelle

Michelle is a financial professional with over 16 years experience in audit, risk and compliance. She is Vice President and Audit Director at a large financial institution in charge of the U.S. Regulatory Reporting, Legal, Corporate Administration, Regulatory Affairs, and Global Human Resources audit programs.

Previously, Michelle worked in London for ten years at another large financial institution, where her last role was Senior Vice President/Senior Audit Manager of Global Human Resources for the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region.

She is also a licensed attorney and avid Diversity and Inclusion Champion that always finds time to mentor and volunteer. She currently serves as a member of the Professional Women’s Network, Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Volunteer Community Support Program, and is also a member of the Corporate Audit Talent Council, all employee organizations. Prior volunteering activities include Big Sister and Read to a Child.
